Chandrayaan 2 Launched Successfully | A Proud Moment For India

Chandrayaan-2 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.




The Chandrayaan-2 rocket has been seeking its moon mission to explore the Lunar south pole of the moon by landing a rover was launched with its most powerful rocket GSLV-Mk0III-M1 from Sriharikota today.

The scientists of ISRO, who had aborted the previous launch saying a technical fault with 56 minutes left for the countdown to end on July 15 and have taken quick remedial action based on an analysis carried out by a team set up to look into the snag and announced the rescheduled launch three days ago. There has been a 20-hours countdown for next launch began at 6.43pm Sunday, ISRO announced.

India's second Moon odyssey comes 11 years after ISRO's successful first lunar mission Chandrayaan 1, which had created history by creating as many as 3,400 orbits around Moon. 

After the countdown ISRO has been successful in the launch the Rs 978 crore mission, which was rescheduled after scientists corrected the glitch in the rocket, was launched at 2.43pm from second launch at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, over 100km from Chennai.

If it surpasses that litmus test, ISRO will become the first space agency to carry out a successful soft landing on the south polar region of the Moon. Once it soft-lands on the Moon, India will join an elite list of countries ever to soft-land on the surface of the Moon with homegrown technology
